Once again it seems to have been a far period of time since my last update, but now is the time, so onwards.
In the past year I have been working solidly on new paintings and in collaboration with some exciting outcomes. I decided to take July off to enjoy a holiday in what can only be described as paradise, but to also recharge my batteries and plan out my plan of attack for the next chapter in my career. Over the years I have dedicated myself to creating highly detailed stencil paintings and of course plan to continue to do so but to also mix things up a little with a fresh take on some new work. Some may recall portrait pieces I did where the detailed stencils are punked with splatters of paint, which I really enjoyed creating and now keen to take further. Above is my latest painting, “A Sultry Look” which shows the combination of detailed stencil works combined with brush work and inks, in contravention to the clean finish of the detailed paintings I create. Whilst I plan to continue spending hours working on creating detailed paintings I plan to enjoy working with this method as well.
I hope you look forward to future paintings as much as I am.

The beautiful Boneshaker magazine, put together by two of Bristol’s friendliest folk John & James, is on Issue #2 now and I’m honoured to say that I’m in that issue. James caught up with me one sunny evening and interviewed me about BÖIKZMÖIND, how it all started and where it’s heading! So why not grab a copy and support independent publishing!
Also, be sure to go down to Howies store here in Bristol this Friday night (7 - 10pm) as Boneshaker is having a launch party for issue 2 featuring artwork and photography from the collaborators, as well as an exhibition of artist-designed & hand-stitched cycling caps!
More DBD graphic news! This time my friend Jason, who got a vinyl version of the graphic made-up to put on his rear disc wheel of his track bike which he rides at Newport velodrome! Cheers Jase!

Jats Gill, the man behind the UK’s newest vinyl toy company ‘Bitbots’ asked me if I’d be part of the launch event of their first toy ‘Jinny’ by customizing a blank version for the show! It’s been a while since I’ve customized a toy but I gave it a shot! As I always tend to do with customs, I have a thing for pulling the head off and turning it upside down - I’m glad I did, as it made me think of a bird of prey, with it’s beak poking out.
I got out the milliput and sculpted a ‘lip’ around the bottom of the head, so it looked like a military helmet with the beak poking out as well as smoothing over the top where the hole was and voila, it was ready to sand down and paint.
Using a nice chrome for the helmet and a olive green for the body, all that was left was to try my hand at dry-brushing, giving the helmet and body a bit of a rusted feel! And voila, what you see above is the finished thing, I call him “General Ruffles III”. You can check out what the original looks like here.
Thanks to Jats at Bitbots and all the best with the launch, always good to support homegrown british tings!
